SUFA Announces “Adopt-A-Hero Project A Success”
Date: July 6, 2004

Honolulu – July 6, 2004 - Mike Gabbard, the Founder and President of Stand Up For America (SUFA) announced today that “Project: Adopt-A-Hero” has been an outstanding success. Earlier this year, SUFA contacted the teachers of all schools in Hawaii, asking them to participate in its efforts to show appreciation to Hawaii’s troops in Afghanistan and Iraq by sending them “goodie packages” of local snacks and a personal letter/photo from students.
Gabbard said, “We received thousands of letters, drawings, cards, artwork, pictures, and local snacks from students from across the state and we were delighted the following 24 schools decided to participate in this exciting program:”

On Oahu:
* A Plus at August Ahrens
* Waipahu Intermediate
* St. Patrick School
* Castle High School
* Leilehua High School
* Campbell High School
* Sunset Beach Elementary School
* Pearl Harbor Elementary School
* Education Lab School
* St. John Vianney Parish School
* St. Andrew's Priory School
* Waiahole Elementary School
* Our Lady of Perpetual Help
* Fern Elementary School

On the Big Island:
* Mauna Loa School
* Kamehameha Schools - Hawaii Campus
* Kealakehe US Army JROTC
* Mountain View School
* Kea'au Middle School
* E Maka'ala School

On Maui:
* King Kekaulike High School

On Kauai:
* Kilauea School

“It’s great that our teachers and students showed such aloha for our Hawaii-based soldiers that are so far from home and making the great personal sacrifices to defend our country,” Gabbard said. The SUFA “goodie packages” will be mailed soon to the Middle East and will certainly be appreciated and enjoyed by Hawaii’s troops overseas.
SUFA is a 501 (C) s non-profit, non-partisan, tax-exempt educational organization that strives to promote unity and patriotism, increase our awareness of our identity as citizens of one nation under God, and instill a sense of duty and commitment on both an individual and community level.
